More Lâm Đồng durian farming areas’ traceability codes get China approval

LÂM ĐỒNG — China’s customs has approved another  三 二 farming area codes and three packaging facility codes for durian in Lâm Đồng, according to the province’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Farming area codes are meant for traceability to facilitate agricultural exports.

China, the world's largest durian market, began importing the fruit from Việt Nam last year after approving  五 一 farming area codes. 

The number has since increased to  二 四 六 area codes and  九 七 packaging facility codes.

Durian has been identified by Lâm Đồng as the fruit with the highest economic value. It has  一 四, 四 三 二 hectares under various varieties of the fruit such as MonThong, Ri 六 and Dona mainly in Đạ Huoai, Di Linh, Bảo Lâm, and Đạ Tẻh districts and an annual output of  一00,000 tonnes.

Authorities in Đạ Huoai have been encouraging farmers to use traceability labels and helping them adopt VietGAP standards.

In  二0 一 六 “Đạ Huoai durian” was recognised as the district’s exclusive agricultural brand by the Intellectual Property Office of Việt Nam. – VNS
